Methods of Teaching I

     In this course you will use the classic textbook "The Seven Laws of Teaching" by John M. Gregory.  The course is divided into 9 lessons with tests for each lesson.
   The goal of this course is to impart to you practical and scholarly methods for teaching that have been used for decades.  (1.5 credits)

• INSTRUCTIONS:
  

• There are no videos for this course, at this time.  They will be added later.

• SIGN-IN first for this course and mark the form "Begin" unless you have done so previously.  You do not sign in when you finish each lesson.  You only do so and mark the form "Finish" when you have completed the entire course and you are ready for the Final Test.
  

• Download and print the COURSE RECORD FORM.  On it you will keep a record of your sign in "Begin" date because you will be required to enter it on the Sign In "Finish" form that you will submit at the end of the entire course.  You will also keep other pertinent information on that form such as date and score for each test so that you will be able to keep track of your progress through the course.
  -  Complete each section, looking up all of the scriptures referenced.  You must use the King James Version because all of the scriptures in these courses are from that version.  If there are blanks in the scriptures which are quoted in the lessons, no provision is made for you to fill in the blanks.  They are there only to make it necessary for you to go to your Bible to read the completed reference and/or to bring your attention to a particular portion of the scripture.
  -  You may not complete more than one section per week of the textbook.  If you do more than that, then you will not retain the information in the text.  You may not take more than one section test per week in this subject.  Section tests are not to be submitted before the last day of the week of study for that lesson.  The week of study for the next lesson starts on the following day and not on the day you passed the test for the previous lesson.
  -  Minimum attendance:
        Minimum attendance for the entire course is 10 weeks.
        Minimum attendance for each individual lesson in the course is 1 week per lesson.
  

• TESTING:  Make sure you read and submit the testing instructions form if you have not already done so.
  -  After completing each section, then take the test for that section.  All tests are open book, which means that you can use your textbook/workbook to help you take the test.  You may not go on to study the next section until you have taken and passed the current section test.
  -  You may not complete more than one test on one day in any one course.
    If you fail a test, then review the text to find the correct answers and then take the test again not sooner than the following day.  Repeat this process until you pass the test.
  -  When you have passed the section test, then go on to the next section after reviewing the text in order to find the correct answers to any questions missed on the test.  Once you have received a passing score on a test, do not take it again.  Only your first passing score will be added to you file.  Any others will be discarded.
  We must process and discard additional tests by hand and this causes extra work for us.  So please only take the tests until you pass them.
  -  After completing the last section and passing the test for that section, then you will need to retrieve the PASSWORD so you can take the FINAL TEST.  You will find instructions at the bottom of this page.
  

•  NOTE on TESTING:  You must pass each test before going on to the next section.  You must also pass the final test in order to complete the class.
      Should you fail any one of the tests, study the lesson again and then retake the test the next day.  Repeat this process should you fail again; only spend extra time studying the lesson in more depth before repeating the test.  You may repeat the test as many times as necessary; however, you must pass the test in order to proceed to the next section.
     ATTENTION:  If you fail a test, you may not attempt that test again on the same day.  You must restudy the textbook/workbook and find all of the correct answers to the questions missed and then retake the test no sooner than the next day.
  

• NOTE on MISSED QUESTIONS:  If you had any wrong answers on any test, then you must restudy that section of the textbook and find all of the correct answers to the questions that you missed on the test, whether or not you received a passing score, before proceeding to the next lesson.
  

• FINAL TEST
  - Final Test is "closed book;" which means you can NOT use the textbook or any other written or electronic materials while taking the test.  Nor can you have anyone assist you while you are taking the test.
  - Once you have completed all sections of the textbook and passed all of the corresponding tests and found the correct answers in the textbook to any questions missed on any test, then you can submit a Sign-in form and mark it "Finish" and then submit a Closed Book Test Contract Form to retrieve the Password and, upon receiving the Password, take the Final Test for the course.
  - Once you pass the final test do not take it again.
  - If you fail the final test then you need to restudy both the textbook and all of the section tests and then retake the final test; but, you MAY NOT take the final test, or any other test, more than once on any one day.  You must wait until, at least, the next day to submit a retake of the test.
     Repeat this process until you pass the Final Test.  Once you have passed the Final Test, please do not take it again.  Additional submissions will be discarded and only cause unnecessary work for the staff here at the college.
  - If you miss any questions on the Final Test, even though you have passed it, then you need to review the textbook and all of the section tests and find the correct answers to the questions you missed.  This is a requirement.  You have not completed the requirements for this course until you have done this.  You will have your copy of the Final Test that was emailed to you and it has the correct answers on it for comparison purposes to help you find the correct answers in the textbook.
  
  

• TESTS - Links are in the textbook.
  On some computers: Students have reported that sometimes the test links don't work in the textbooks.

  When you receive a passing score on the Final Test, be sure to update your TRANSCRIPT and GRADES FORM and submit it to the college.  Do not use a new copy; use the same copy each time and simply upgrade it with the information for the course and submit it attached to an email.
